Rowing across the atlantic

We are four young Swiss rowers and former competitive athletes determined to cross the Atlantic in 2025 as part of the World’s Toughest Row. Our adventure begins on the Canary Island of La Gomera and takes us across the ocean to Antigua in the Caribbean.

As team 44west, our goal is to row across the Atlantic as quickly as possible and raise money to rebuild coral reefs. As four competitive guys, we want to take on this challenge and be the first to reach the finish line.

44
Degrees of longitude
From the port of San Sebastian de La Gomera (28° 6′ N, 17° 7′ W) to English Harbour in Antigua (17° 1′ N, 61° 46′ W) we will cross a total of 44 degrees of longitude.
29
Days
With enough tailwind and support from the mainland, we hope for ideal conditions to beat the world record of 29 days, 14 hours and 34 minutes.
4800
Kilometers
On our adventurous journey we will cover 4800 kilometers. This corresponds to about one eighth of the circumference of the earth.
1.5M
Rowing strokes
To cover the planned distance across the Atlantic, each of us will have to make more than 375,000 rowing strokes.
