The idea to race across the Atlantic Ocean in a rowing boat came to Luca and Julian during their summer vacations in 2022. In parallel, Matthias and Lorenzo had been talking for years about wanting to row across the Atlantic one day. Thanks to the shared past of Julian and Matthias in rowing, our individual plans quickly came together. We all know each other from previous competitions in rowing and have a common mindset despite our different characters. We are looking forward to mastering this challenge together.

Fernandez

After retiring from professional rowing a few years ago, my everyday life is currently dominated by studies and a part-time job. In my free hours, I get my bikes in shape, ride them all over Switzerland, or enjoy time with my girlfriend and colleagues. Since this "normal" life for me cannot satisfy my thirst for new challenges and big goals, the World Tougest Row - Atlantic 2025 comes at the perfect time.

Matthias prefers to go on vacation by bike. Since he also wants to go to the caribbean one day, he needs to row.

I'm super motivated to be part of a team with big dreams again and I'm excited to get to know rowing in such a new, but not any less extreme way.

Fayd‘herbe de Maudave

Since my 14th birthday, I have been competing in rowing. This led to the fact that after my time in the junior national squad I was looking for new challenges and ways to compete with other athletes and see who is the best. With the Worlds Toughest Row 2025, together with my comrades from team 44west, I am starting a project that will satisfy my thirst for adventure, competition and goal-oriented training and give me the chance to once again prove my personal breaking point and that of my team.

My stomach is a bottomless pit. Before going to restaurants, I already eat a meal to spare the waitress from asking me several times if my order is a mistake.

Besides my activities as a rower on the water, a cyclist or in the weight room, I study business administration together with Julian at the University of St. Gallen and work in the athletes' association of the HSG for more advantages for competitive athletes during their studies.

Henseler

Having started rowing at a young age, rowing has been a part of my life for a long time. I have wanted to participate in Talisker Whisky Atlatnic Challenge, now Worlds Toughest Row, for many years, but it took me some time to find a team of like-minded people willing to take on such an adventure together. Within the team, I try not to lose track of the big picture so that we can continue to focus on what's important as a team. I look forward to fulfilling a dream together.

Lorenzo would prefer to fly to Antigua, but Matt has forbidden him to do so.

Müller

After a long rowing career in the Swiss elite squad and years filled with sports, the Worlds Toughest Row is the next big challenge for me. I extremely enjoy being part of a fun and goal-oriented team. Such projects fuel my life and keep me alive besides my studies at the University of St. Gallen.
